What’s Up With This Essential Oil?

by Lori (Roberts) Wilson

If you are like I am, when you think of carrots you think of … ?

Raise your hand if you also think of Bugs Bunny.

As the animated rabbit antagonized the likes of Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam, Bugs munched on his favorite food. But did he think? Did he contemplate the benefits of the carrots he chomped and crunched?

Of course not, silly, because he’s a cartoon.

However, you and I are quite real – and so are the benefits of this vegetable. Carrots grow from seeds and that leads us to the topic of this blog post – Carrot Seed. As an essential oil that is non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing, one of the top benefits of Carrot Seed is for the skin. It encourages cell renewal and reduces signs of aging when a small amount is added to face cream. It also promotes healing of wounds and scars.

And while we’re talking about the face, I’m sure you’ve heard – probably from your mother while you were growing up – that carrots are good for your eyes.

What Mom probably didn’t tell you (because she probably didn’t know):

  • carrots are highly antioxidant, which is why they help poor vision
  • if you cut a carrot, it looks like an eye
  • NEVER put ANY essential oils IN your eye
  • avoid Carrot Seed essential oil if you’re pregnant
  • use Carrot Seed in moderation – it may become nauseating in larger amounts

Below the neck, Carrot Seed essential oil also benefits the cardiovascular system, kidneys, pancreas and liver, including recovery support from hepatitis and jaundice. For those dealing with the ups and downs of menstruation, Carrot Seed helps balance the cycle and reduces cramps.

How do you learn the safest ways to use Carrot Seed essential oil? Get the book or the free e-book. Foundational Aromatherapy is the book by Leiann King and Brenda Wright and is available here:  and at www.essentialforoils.com

Nearly half of the book is offered as a free e-book, with detailed information about 46 single oils and 25 blends: http://foundationalaromatherapy.com/ebook/

That’s all, folks!
